A Deep Breath

The Crusher is over.

Now what?

A lot. Actually.

But before I can dive into preparing for the Point 2 Point and some of the lead-in races (USCS #4, Mt. Ogden 50k) I’ll be riding in, I need to catch my breath. I’ve been enjoying some really mellow riding over the last 10 days. But I am starting to crave the focus and intensity of training again. And that’s a good thing. Late July and early August can be a tiresome, worn out time of year. But so far, I’ve not experienced any of that fatigue. Not in earnest. I did have a small bout with ‘cross fever, but it was nothing that a few days at higher altitudes, surrounded by primrose and snow-fed lakes, couldn’t cure. Of course, I am excited about cyclocross season. But right now is right now. And right now I want to ride singletrack.

I’m taking a little breather from blogging as well. I’ve been busy with some work and freelance writing projects, and so this space has been a little neglected. But don’t worry, I’ll be back soon enough. Frankly, you’ve probably enjoyed the hiatus more than I have. After all, there’s only so much introverted self-analyzation one can read, right?

In the meantime, I suggest heading out into the heat of summer and riding your bike.

That’s what I’m going to do.

See you soon.

There’s still some slots in the Pierre’s Hole 100. Gonna pre-ride the loop on Saturday.
