The Crow’s Foot
The Highway Line can cause otherwise rational people to do irrational things. Why?
“Because everyday I look up at that line.”
The Crow’s Foot is blatant from Salt Lake City. It’s a massive avalanche path that can be seen from miles. Every backcountry skier has heard of the Crow’s Foot. And every one stares up at it everyday. And so why not finally ski it? It is after all, right there. At least, it certainly looks that way—just an easy hike from Wasatch Boulevard. Right?
Riiiight.
There is a very good reason that very few people ever ski—and fewer yet that ski it twice—The Crow’s Foot.
It is absolutely abysmal to reach. Trust me.
Irrational? Obviously.
But it beats the gym any and every day of the week.
The Crow’s Foot? Check.

March 14, 2011Well played. Just one of the many lines that can be seen from the valley but are better left alone for sanity’s sake.

March 14, 2011Fantastic. Did it two years ago in May. We didn’t have enough snow to speed us to the bottom again. It was a bush whack for sure. But, as you say, Check. 🙂 Some pictures from our quest:
