Snow. At Last.

And then it snowed. And snowed.
It’s about time. Let’s get right to the storm totals. The Ogden area mountains: 27-30” with the Ben Lomond station boasting 6.5” of snow-water-equivalent. The Park City areas picked up roughly 24”…the Provo mountains roughly 42” with 5.4” of snow-water-equivalent….and the Cottonwoods 40-50” of snow. Winds are now westerly at 15-20mph with perhaps twice that along the Ogden crest. Temps are in the teens and low twenties.
Trail-breaking was a chore of comic proportions. The downhill? Best described by one of our observers as “straightline tunneling”.
The backcountry is still unstable. But the resorts are apparently offering up excellent riding conditions. In preparation for the Avy class this weekend I’d better get some turns behind me. I suppose today is as good a day as any to try out Sundance Resort’s new night skiing option.
It would be uncivilized to arrive out of practice.

Night skiing doesn’t open until 12/21!
I don’t think Sundance opens for night skiing until the 21st. Bummer. I’d be up there tonight too. Brighton opens for nights today though…
Unverified, but I heard that night skiing doesn’t open until the 21st.
I can verify. But I was still able to get some afternoon turns in.
