Bright Lights and Open Desert

I spent a day in Las Vegas. Which I think, all things considered, is more than enough time spent in Vegas. Walking the Interbike show floor was both entertaining, and exhausting. In every direction there were tires, spokes, pedals, drive-trains, helmets, frames, clothing, nutrition, and everything else that had anything at all to do with a bicycle. I’d estimate that 7 out of 10 vendor booths were small, heretofore unknown companies trying to stake out ground in their respective and competitive markets. Who knew there were so many energy bar makers?

One of the highlights of the show was finally meeting the Twin Six duo, Ryan and Brent. The 2010 lineup of jersey’s and shirts are head turning. I think “Skid” is one of my new favorites. Visiting with the Ergon crew, the fella’s from Princeton Tec, as well as Power Bar, Tifosi, and other sponsors was time well spent.

But beyond the glitter and bright lights of Vegas lingered the surrounding, open, quite desert. After the show we drove back to St. George to ready ourselves for the next morning and the Gooseberry 100k.

But that story will have to wait until tomorrow.
