Of Pie and Winter

Posted by on Dec 1, 2008 in Bike | No Comments

As I look forward to the coming month I am both surprised and optimistic. Surprised that December is already here. What happened to November? I am optimistic because the normal December sluggery is gone, replaced by an energy and motivation to git ‘r’ done.

The weekend was good. I ate a lot of pie. And a lot of other pie. At one point I was eating pie out of the pie tin. Who needs a plate when you have a pie tin already full of delicious, creamy, chocolaty, wonderful pie?

There was a lot of family time, some football watching, and a few naps, movies, shopping trips and pie. Did I mention the pie? But now I am looking forward to getting back into the routine, back to the gym, back on the trainer, and back into the snow. If it would fall, that is.

With the arrival of December, I can’t help but look forward to next month, specifically the 23rd, the commencement of Camp Lynda 2.0. What is traditionally a long, cold, and dark month, now has a light at the end of the tunnel in the form of 3 days of fantastic desert singletrack.

And so I wait for that. And while I wait I am climbing the stair master, riding the trainer, and getting out into the winter sun whenever possible.

I never thought I’d say it. In fact, I am not sure I will even stand by this statement, but right now, right here, I am excited about winter.

I know, weird huh?

Me too. With a mid-week pass to Brighton and the xc skis I bought late last winter I’m ready to hit the snow!

Me too! Camp Lynda (I just can’t seem to call it Camp 2-Epic yet) will be a wonderful diversion from the snow…if we ever get any. Weird.

Put the pie down!! Ha ha. See you down here for Camp Lynda 2.0. We have given up trying to call it 2-Epic Camp. CL stuck I guess.
